Chevy Camaro SSX

Chevy Camaro SSX

Chevy Camaro SSX Track Car Concept Thunders into SEMA

The Chevy Camaro was definitely the darling of SEMA 2009, and it looks like this last pony car to the party might steal a few hearts this year too. GM invited us out to Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump to preview some of their show cars, and along with the similar Corvette Z06X, they had this Camaro – the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SSX Track Car Concept.
As Chevy describes it: “the Camaro SSX Track Car is a concept for transforming a street Camaro SSinto a closed-course track car, and a showcase for new performance parts.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
The Camaro SSX Track Car gets many of the same changes seen in the Z06X, some of them straight out of the GMPP catalog, and others pure racing touches. The white and black paint scheme and carbon fiber accents look great on this show car, and the suspension tweaks that come as part of the package will probably make it go as look as it looks.
And who wouldn’t like a lighter Camaro? That carbon fiber and the deletion of some standard equipment should shave a few hundred pounds from the Camaro’s bulk. Like the Zo6X, Chevy was tight-lipped about production, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed. Pics and press release after the break.

2013 Jaguar XF

For the past five years, the Jaguar XF has been a one-trick pony, serving up nothing but V-8s and rear-wheel drive in a luxury market that demanded more. Competitors with more variants were sending the XF to the glue factory—or whatever factory processes endangered species for use in adhesives. Now, finally, Jaguar’s stylish sedan will have the engine range and all-wheel drive it needs to better compete; the latter is a non-negotiable prerequisite to sell luxury cars in the northeastern United States.

Chevrolet Camaro

                                                    Chevrolet Camaro 1969
         #supercarsworldWIDE.

CHEVROLET CAMARO

I clearly remember our dealership getting its first Camaro delivered prior to public announcement – that day was September 10, 1966 – and I thought the Camaro was the most beautiful car I’d ever seen – and it’s been a passion of mine for over 40 years.

It was a bittersweet time – we were building the best Camaros (in terms of performance/handling/fuel economy/quality) that had ever been built. However, as America’s tastes changed in transportation, the Camaro – and indeed the entire Sport Coupe market – went into decline as peoples’ choice switched to Sport Utilities and more practical sedans. It was particularly painful to hear in late 1996 that the Camaro would not, in all probability, be built after 1998. We were fortunate to keep the Camaro (and its cousin, the Pontiac Firebird) in the market-place through the 2002 model year.
Much speculation, finger-pointing, and blame has been placed and assigned as to WHY they went out of production. That said, there are many reasons why these very special nameplates were put on hiatus….some evident – yet I submit to you that there were many other reasons completely foreign to those who are not intimately involved within the auto industry. Suffice it to say that many people – both enthusiasts within the public domain – as well as many of us within the GM Family – were devastated when production of the 4th Generation cars came to an end in August of 2002.
As I write this preface in the final days of 2007, we have much to celebrate – as the Camaro WILL be back!
What you are about to read comes, primarily, from a pamphlet that I had produced and was included in a special 35th Anniversary Camaro Owner Portfolio This portfolio came with each of the 3,369 Camaro 35th Limited Edition Camaro SS’s. It allowed our Camaro enthusiasts to have insight into some of the ‘tidbits’ of Camaro history.
I hope you’ll enjoy a walk down memory lane!

Mustang, Camaro, Challenger and more!

Cars - for some folks they are nothing but a way to get around and for other cars are a lot more than just a way to the store. For the enthusiast cars are a hobby and a lot more. Car guys and gals will spend more money on their car each month souping it up or making it look different than they pay on a car payment and not bat an eye. In the world of cars there are all sorts of rides from the foreign type with giant wings and lots of stickers to good old American muscle. I like all sorts of cars as long as they are cool, look good, and perform but to some nothing beats American muscle.
For a few years it seemed that the muscle car was going to die off when the Camaro was ended, thankfully GM bought the car back. The only muscle car that has been on the scene since the muscle cars of the 60's is the Ford Mustang, and the Mustang is back with a vengeance this year. A bunch of other muscle cars are back as well with Dodge offering the Charger and the Challenger. It’s a good time to be a fan of muscle cars, that's for sure.
Each of the muscle cars on the market today be it the Camaro, the Mustang, the Charger, or the Challenger go about what they do in different ways and they all have a very retro edge to them. I can say that I like the looks of all of them. However, when it comes to performance they don’t all match up. You can't just look at the horsepower ratings and tell what car will be the fastest. The Mustang GT makes less power than most other muscle cars, but it's comparably lightweight and its handling make it a car to beat in many tests. Sit back, relax and check out my picks for the top muscle cars of the modern era. These are in no particular order, and by that I mean no hate mail telling me one car should be above the other! Enjoy!
